The City of Abbeville in Louisiana just spruced up their newly opened Lafitte Drive-In Park with five brand-new Concrete Picnic Tables.

The project is reportedly under the direction of Councilman at Large Francis Plaisance and creates an appealing new attraction for picnic-goers.

The rectangular tables are located in an open grassy area, placed nicely under some sizable shade trees next to a large pond.

They call it the "drive-in" park. That's certainly, an interesting name.

The real story behind the unique name is because the park is located on the site of a bit of Americana that has virtually disappeared from the landscape - a drive-in movie theater.

The tie-in between the opening of this park and the theater is significant. Many Abbeville residents said they have fond memories of spending their nights in their cars there and watching a favorite movie.

The drive-in-theater might be gone, but now there's a new attraction in town - a big spacious park. It's nice the town decided to add the title to Lafitte Drive-In Park to preserve the memories for many of its 12,000 residents.

Concrete picnic tables are secure and long-lasting

Town officials said they decided to buy concrete picnic tables for two reasons: "durability and theft prevention."

As a bonus, they said they found the new tables to be "sturdy and comfortable."

Durability is a key phrase when describing concrete picnic tables.

These tables (sometimes referred to as cement picnic tables) are built to last. For that reason, over the years the Park and Facilities Catalog has supplied this very popular outdoor site furnishing to hundreds of local municipalities, stores, and office buildings.

These picnic tables are built tough with steel reinforced concrete. That makes them impervious to the elements such as cold, rain, snow, heat and sun.

That concrete also makes them nearly impossible to steal as well. These heavy-duty tables need to be removed from a tractor-trailer with a forklift. Nobody is going to steal these picnic tables and put them in the back of a car.

Another big advantage of the concrete picnic table is low maintenance.

The tables are easy to clean. They never need sanding or repainting.

There is no splintering, mold or mildew.

Cement picnic tables in different designs

One factor most people might not realize is that while these concrete tables are built like a rock, they can be very visually appealing.

That's because the surfaces come in a variety of shapes, colors, and textures.

Here are the colors:

  • Light brown
  • Terra Cotta
  • Dove Gray
  • Sand Tan

You can order colors in the different aggregate textures, ranging from smooth to small or larger stones.

They range from:

  • Smooth Finish
  • Polished Smooth
  • Light Sandblasted
  • Etched
  • Perma-Finish
  • Dura-Brite

Tabletops can be ordered with either a Smooth or Polished finish.

Concrete picnic tables are not only a great choice for parks. They are also suitable for outdoor dining at restaurants, coffee shops, office buildings, apartment communities or basically anywhere people would like to gather outside for a meal. You know those tables will be there the next day and for many years to come.

Congratulations to Abbeville on their new Lefitte Drive-In Park. We're sure this will be a popular place for families to visit. There they will enjoy a refreshing day of sunshine and fresh air while sitting on their comfortable and secure concrete picnic tables.
